The Zenith-class corvette or light cruiser is shaped like a flattened cylinder with four vanes running the length of the hull in an X configuration. A double turbolaser turret is mounted on each vane, one forward and one aft. Between two more turrets are placed one each above and below the bow of the ship, while the last two are placed similarly but facing aft. The laser cannon are placed in opposite configuration, with one on each vane at the stern and one at the midsection of the ship along each vane. A pair of missile launchers is mounted in the leading edge of each weapons vane, while the remaining two are mounted facing aft. These two are concealed, their purpose to wait as a nasty surprise for any starfighters or gunships trying to come to attack the ship from behind. Ion cannon are placed on the sides of the bow, a pair on each side facing forward. The vessel is heavily armored and shielded.
The Zenith class pays dearly for its armament and protection. It requires a large crew, carries only a dozen or so passengers because much room is needed for an expanded powerplant that can keep up with the ship's demands for power, and is slow due to the structural reinforcement required to keep the mass and recoil of the turbolasers from tearing the ship apart. It has the maneuvering capabilities of a ship nearly twice its size. The only thing it does well is roll--this allows it to cycle the turbolasers faster, as while one generates its next charge another is rotating into position to fire for it. The ship's primary purpose is to take on warships, though it can be used as an antifighter ship as well due to its armament.
