As a species that placed a great amount of value in the military and law enforcement, martial arts had a well entrenched place within Ylijumalat culture. Martial arts within the Ylijumalat culture were collectively known as Kuolinisku which literally translated as "death blow". Kuolinisku was broken into a total of twelve tyylit or styles: päätös (unarmed), puukko(knife) and throwing, leuku(long knife or machete), miekka (sword), longsword, miekkasauva/svärdstav (swordstaff), ax, spear, staff, sielumiekka (plasmasword), dual weapons, weapon and shield, sword and buckler. These twelve tyylit were then broken down into various koulut or schools that all taught their own approaches, forms, methods, and teachings to the twelve tyylit. The result was near infinite ways to use martial arts while still maintaining basic principles.
